Dr. Tyler Brown completed a Ph.D. in counselling psychology at McGill University. During his doctoral training, he completed a yearlong clinical psychology residence in psychosocial oncology and palliative care at the McGill University Health Centre. His dissertation research examined the role of masculine ideals and avoidant coping in gay and bisexual men’s sexual risk-taking and HIV transmission. His research interests include health psychology, men’s mental health, and the psychology of status, prestige, and reputation. Currently, he is interested in conducting research that informs the advancement of men’s mental health promotion and treatment, particularly in the areas of male depression and suicide as well as psychosocial oncology and bereavement care.

Beyond his research program, Dr. Brown is the co-founder and program director of Mont Royal Psychology, a private group psychotherapy practice located in Montreal, Quebec. In his clinical practice, he primarily focuses on men’s mental health and meaning-making in the context of loss and psychosocial transition.
